It’s been very dry this summer. Because the soil is very poor I have grown tomatoes and suchlike in pots and grow bags and they have been more successful. It does involve a lot of watering but fortunately we have a well and can pump the water up and store it in butts. Anyway, we have had salad, tomatoes, squashes but the peppers – crikey the peppers, and what is amazing really is that the bell peppers are all freebies that I grew from saved seeds. The long ones though I bought from my daughter in law at the school fete and they have been incredible. The only trouble is that they are so beautiful I don’t want to cut them!
