Just a few blossoms to brighten a dull morning

It’s a dull and drizzly morning but these bright flowers are beaming through the gloom.

  1. The iris is beautiful and the petunias remind me of my mom. Mom always had petunias in her gardens both in the city and at the cottage. Back in ’67, Canada’s Centennial year, my mom started a campaign to celebrate the event on our street – Centennial Street. The new flag had just come out, red & white, so Mom suggested we plant red & white petunias around every boulevard tree on our street, starting at the home of the resident who had been there the longest. It was quite an affair with radio & TV crews out to film the first planting of those red & white petunias! 🙂

    • what a lovely thing to do, I have petunias most years if I can and they are so long lasting and cheerful. It’s nice that they remind you of your mum.
